Definition

Animal adoption — what's behind it?

An animal adoption originally means: you take on financial responsibility for an animal or species and support its protection with a regular or one-time payment. Many know this model from WWF, NABU, or animal shelters.

At aninu, it goes much further. You don't adopt an anonymous species — you get a concrete, named wild animal with a GPS tracker. You see daily where it is in the world. You give it a name. You become part of its story.

Gift idea

Gift an animal adoption

Animal adoptions are one of the most popular gifts at aninu — for birthdays, Christmas, or just because. You instantly receive a digital certificate with the animal's name and the recipient's name. The recipient gets permanent access to GPS tracking.

Especially popular as a gift for children: An animal you can track daily on the map creates a connection to nature — and stays in memory for a long time.

Frequently asked

Everything at a glance

Which animal species are available at aninu?

Sea turtles, penguins, dolphins, sharks, whales, elephants, lions, giraffes, polar bears, rhinos and leopards — 11 species in total, all with real GPS trackers.

How often is GPS data updated?

Daily. Your animal's position data is transmitted from the field once per day and updated in your aninu app. In areas with poor satellite coverage, there may occasionally be short delays.

What happens if my animal dies or the tracker fails?

When a GPS transmitter reaches the end of its battery life, a new animal from the program is assigned where possible. If an animal dies, your adoption is transferred to another animal of the same species.

Is an animal adoption tax-deductible?

No — an animal adoption at aninu is a commercial purchase, not a donation. You receive an invoice and use the app. No donation receipt is issued.

Can I transfer my adoption to someone else?

Yes. Adoptions can be transferred to another person via aninu customer support (hello@aninu.de), for example as a belated gift.
