About sea turtles
Why sea turtles need our protection
GPS without a battery
Sea turtles navigate using the Earth's magnetic field — and return after decades to the exact beach where they were born.
Temperature determines sex
Warmer sand produces more females. Rising ocean temperatures are shifting the balance and threatening the species.
Reef gardeners
By grazing algae on coral reefs, turtles enable the growth of new coral and keep reef ecosystems healthy.

FAQ
Adopting a sea turtle — questions
How do I adopt a sea turtle?
Pick your animal on aninu.de, give it a name, pay €24.99 once. You'll get the certificate and GPS tracking access in the aninu app instantly. No subscription, no contract.
Does the GPS tracking really work live?
In the aninu app you see your animal's position on the map. It is updated every day, and you also see the route your animal has travelled.
How is this different from WWF, NABU, or Geschenkbaum?
Classic wildlife sponsorships = donation + certificate, no specific animal. aninu = you adopt a specific sea turtle, name it, follow it via GPS. No subscription, one-time €24.99. Geschenkbaum has no GPS tracking.
Can I gift a sea turtle adoption?
Yes. You'll get a digital certificate as PDF instantly — print it or forward by email. One of the most-given gifts at aninu: personal, sustainable, no physical shipping needed.
