Why we support turtles
" Turtles are fascinating creatures that have inhabited the seas for millions of years. But today they are on the brink of extinction. There are only seven species of sea turtles left, and every one is threatened.
Pristine beaches, once safe places for laying their eggs, are being destroyed. In Asia, turtle meat and eggs are considered a delicacy and the shells are sought-after commercial goods. Every year, over 250,000 turtles die in fishing nets. In addition, plastic pollution makes the search for food life-threatening: turtles mistake plastic for jellyfish, swallow it and die a painful death.
In light of this tragic fate, we have launched our Turtle campaign. We want to give these gentle giants a voice and secure their future. With your support, we can achieve great things. "
